President Jair Bolsonaro called former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva a "nine-finger thief". The declaration occurred during the delivery of 500 housing units at Residencial Oiticica I, in Alagoas. The representative commented on the work of the president of Caixa Econômica Federal, Pedro Guimarães.
"Caixa, back there, with that nine-fingered thief, was making a loss. In our government, with the freedom you have, more than profit, it brings benefits to all of us in Brazil."
On the occasion, the Minister of Tourism, Gilson Machado, also criticized the PT, saying that the President did not need to "take a dose of cachaça to stay among the people".
Bolsonaro even cuddled Congress. "You know that it is not easy to be the head of the Executive. But we must always have a good team at your side. Our team in the Brazilian parliament is exceptional. Not everyone, but it is the majority who know and respect the mandate you gave to all of them. I thank the Alagoas bench that has helped us and a lot in projects that increasingly transform our country ", he concluded.
The speeches came a day after Lula led the presidential race for the 2022 elections, according to a survey by Datafolha. The PT is 18 percentage points ahead of Bolsonaro in the first round and 23 in the second. Lula would have, according to the poll, 41% of the votes in the first clash, while Bolsonaro would take 23%. In the second, the scoreboard shows 55% against 32% in favor of the left candidate.
